Students of the Year
As the “2020 Student of the Year” (SOY) Honored Hero” campaign in Washington, DC, Kory’s mission was to help provide inspiration and support to the student teams during their fundraising efforts. Although battling complications of a bone marrow transplant during the start of the competition, Kory still seemed to inspire the students to fundraise.
The SOY campaign is a philanthropic leadership development program through which highly motivated high-school leaders embark on a journey of professional growth, ensuring they stand out when preparing for college and beyond. Students foster professional skills such as entrepreneurship, marketing, and project management to raise funds for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) during the program. Student leaders fundraise for the LLS in honor of children who are blood cancer survivors. The Student(s) of the Year title is awarded to the candidate or co-candidate team in each community, who have raised the most funds during the 7-week competition.
During the Grand Finale held on March 13, 2021, student teams collectively raised $3,319,828.00!
